It seems impossible
to find Employment
It's no secret that in this day and
age it almost seems impossible to find adequate employment.
The entire corporate world appears to be downsizing,
right? Today, I'm going to share a secret with you
that I learned a few years ago... that's all in your
head.
It's a well know fact that a large percentage of job
seekers aren't hired because they don't know the proper
process for obtaining new employment.
Let me ask you a few
questions.
• What did you wear on your
interview?
•
Were you properly groomed?
• Did you have your resume
and references
readily available?
If you answered NO to ANY of those questions, you
can't honestly say that you gave 100% effort.
What On the Spot can
do for you NOW
Have you ever heard your mother say,
"If you do it right the first time, you don't
have to worry about doing it again"? Those are
certainly words to live by, especially in the work
field. Anytime you seek employment you should focus
on companies that you can see yourself having a future
with. Don't be afraid to study the annual reports
and other company documents as well.
We can provide you
with:
- A list of the top employers
in the country.
- The list is composed of
both private and public companies.
- We've organized the companies
by state and have also categorized them by industry.
- We provide the company phone,
fax and industry description.
- In some cases, we offer
the senior resource officer's name.
These days it's almost impossible
to find creditable information online or anywhere
for that matter without paying $59.99, am I right?
I understand that everyone is trying
to make better money, but what about the little guy
trying to land a better job?
True
Story
About two years ago,a good friend
of mine moved to Georgia. A month before he left,
he began looking for a job in his future city and
got nothing but the run around. Keep in mind, he was
still employed at his current "9 to 5" as
well as trying to spend time with his family. He found
job hunting out of state very stressful and very time
consuming.
To make a long story short, he ended
up having to move to a new city, with his family,
into a new home - WITHOUT a new job.
Most companies these days are either
hiring online or having seekers fax in a resume. I
personally think filling out online applications is
an effective route to choose. However, I'm in sales,
and if there is one thing that I can say that I've
learned, is that THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS. Faxing
your resume is the best thing you can do in my opinion.
If you don't have fax machine, you can go to your
local print shop or Office Depot and send a fax for
less than your daily coffee money. Send
multiple faxes. Fax
about 20 companies a day. Do follow-up calls. Then
guess what's going to happen? In two weeks time, not
only will you have an offer, you'll probably have
a few jobs to choose from. You need as many irons
in the fire as possible to achieve best results.
Have
an open mind as well
I hear a lot of people make negative
comments about Temp Agencies. I've heard folks say,
"Oh, they're just like MLM or pyramid companies."
But most of them really have your best interest in
mind, because when you stay on the job, it makes them
money as well. These days, a number of Temp Agencies
are even offering incentives such as health and dental
insurance, paid vacations and bonuses.
On
the Spot management will also provide you with a list
of the Top Temporary Agencies in the country.
Remember, the
more outlets you have, the better your chances.
Here's
a better idea of what we have to offer
Here in Jacksonville, Florida, we
have over 80 businesses and temp agencies listed in
our area alone. Each listing comes complete with the
business address, phone, fax and contacts. During
my research, I've learned that most people really
do care about the background of a company. One of
my most frequently asked questions pertains to the
percentage of minority and women employed at a particular
business. All of the companies that we provide access
to are all Equal Opportunity Employers (E.O.E.) However,
just to give you some names of more companies to research,
we have also included
the Top
20 Black-Owned businesses to help
you on your search.
Now let me ask you a very important
question. If I offered you a job paying more than
you are currently making - with better hours - would
you take it? Think about it. That's exactly what I
am offering you. How many more mornings are you going
to roll out of bed angry because you hate
your own job? The first step is admitting it. The
second step is doing something about it. No
one wants to wake up 10 years from now and realize
that they have wasted a DECADE of their life. Do you
ever dream about getting a better job? If you do,
the do something about it today.
